About Christian

Christian James Lapp was born on March 25th 2000 at Denver Health Hospital, and adopted in our home and hearts forever. The birth of Christian was a joyous moment for the Lapp home. We prayed for six years that God would bless us with a child. So when Christian was born, we knew without a doubt that our treasure had arrived! And oh, what a joy it was to be Christian’s parents.

At an early age we noticed that Christian was having difficulty with the normal “mile stones” of an infant/toddler. There seemed to be something wrong with his developmental skills. He wasn’t developing fine motor skills or muscle tone. He was later diagnosed with Menkes disease at the Children’s hospital. Despite his developmental delays, he was such a content and peaceful child. Those of us who have met Christian will never forget his beautiful bright blue eyes and big smile. He was God’s special child given to us for awhile so we could experience the important things of life. And we will never be the same.

Christian had many joyous moments in life despite his medical condition. We wanted him to have as much of a normal life as he could  w/ his disabilities. Our home was blessed to have the presence of speech, occupational, and physical therapists each week. With the help of many, Christian was able to enjoy life to the fullest! We will never forget the day Christian received his own wheel chair with his name embroidered on it! Nor will we forget the day volunteers came by and helped put together his special swing on the deck and installed the johnny jump in the toy room. Our lives will be forever touched by the generosity of many who helped our “special” son experience the joy in living. Christian was able to feel the warmth of a family’s love by all the kisses and hugs from grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. He loved to watch a movie with his cousins. And shared a giggle when they would spin around and play peek-a-boo. He enjoyed watching Elmo and his Sesame street friends.

Christian passed away at Children’s Hospital holding mommy’s hand and Daddy standing bedside. His team of Doctors and Nurses did all they could to keep him breathing. But the Lord called Christian home.

We miss you Christian -every single day! And long for that glorious day when we will be reunited again as a family. What a joy it will be to see you in your new body! Until then, you are only a memory away.

All Our Love,
Your Daddy & Mommy
